As chair of Community Housing and Therapy (CHT), I would like to introduce you to this unique organisation. We are one of the leading UK providers of therapeutic communities in the community for people suffering from psychosis and the homeless.
CHT has developed a robust business model with a turnover of approximately £2 million. We provide safe and structured environments in which psychological change and growth takes place. We bring together a concern for the underlying causes of mental distress and disturbance and a practical programme aimed at training and employment through partnership withwith other organisations. This bringing together of psychotherapy and rehabilitation is one of the unique hallmarks of CHT. We believe it is vital to give access to psychological treatment, as well as medical treatment, for the severely mentally ill.
We work closely with the CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Centre for Quality Improvement on monitoring standards. We have a highly trained professional staff team of over 40 psychologists and psychotherapists working in nine locations in the south east of England. Our staff regularly present papers at conferences and publish articles in internationally renowned journals.
Our conferences attract many psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists and other care professionals. We run a post graduate training programme in conjunction with Middlesex University. CHT has grown to be an influential organisation by becoming a leading member of the international Association of Therapeutic Communities (ATC) and the International Society for the Psychological Treatment of the Schizophrenias and other Psychoses (ISPS).
