Staff Selection

CHT staff come from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. Currently the staff team, which numbers forty four, includes people from Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, China, Uruguay, Brazil, Ghana and Germany as well as people from the UK. 

Project Managers and Deputy Managers have normally reached Masters degree level in psychology and/or psychotherapy. Therapists usually have at least a first degree in psychology and over a year's clinical experience working with the severely mentally ill. Some will have trained as psychiatric nurses, others have completed a post graduate diploma in group psychotherapy, individual analytic psychotherapy, art therapy or drama therapy. 

The minimum entry requirement for staff as assistant psychologists is a first degree in psychology.

Most senior staff are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Association of Therapeutic Communities (ATC), the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and the International Society for the Psychological Treatment of the Schizophrenias and other Psychoses (ISPS).
