Kirsty has worked with CHT for over six years and is the organisation's Senior Psychotherapist and Creative Therapies Lead. In her role, she manages our clinical placements, provides clinical supervision to trainee psychotherapists and ensures the provision of creative therapies within our services.

With an art and design background, Kirsty has experience in community arts and innovation for charities and public services. Wanting to expand her knowledge and experience in working creatively with people, she trained as an art psychotherapist, graduating almost a decade ago. Since then, she has worked in the NHS, private healthcare, secure forensic services, and private practice. Before her current role, Kirsty served as a community psychotherapist at CHT for nearly five years. She works three days a week in her current position while dedicating the rest to private practice and psychoanalytic training.

What does Kirsty love most about her role? Supporting the development of trainee psychotherapists during their time at CHT and helping to build confidence, skills, and experience. She loves seeing them develop therapeutic relationships with our residents. Over the years, she has seen firsthand how residents can transform their lives through the relationships they cultivate and their work during their stay with us. Witnessing what people are capable of, even in the most challenging circumstances, motivates Kirsty to work for CHT.

Outside of work, Kirsty loves art and the process of creating with different materials. She is passionate about creative thinking and expression, believing that creativity can emerge in unexpected ways across various areas of life, not just in therapy. She also enjoys being near the sea and mountains, visiting galleries and museums, and learning new skills and hobbies whenever she finds the time.
