
Level 7 Diploma in Relational Practice in Mental Health
Applications are open for our Level 7 Diploma in Relational Practice in Mental Health. Our internationally recognised and accredited diploma is for professionals working with adults experiencing emotional and psychological distress or mental health challenges who want to deepen their understanding of relational practice in mental health treatment and recovery.

Relational practice, with its focus on the power of human connection, places relationships at the core of support and recovery. ​This course will incorporate theoretical and professional concepts and practical skills to support you in making a meaningful impact while effectively supporting yourself and others.

What you'll study
Through a combination of in-person seminars at our Training Centre in Richmond, and work-based learning you will gain a comprehensive understanding of key areas in mental health practice, including:

Psychodynamic Theory and Practice: Explore how unconscious processes influence behaviour.

Human Development: Understand how life stages shape emotional and psychological well-being.

Impact of Trauma: Learn how trauma affects individuals and how to respond effectively.

Role of Reflection: Develop the habit of thoughtful, reflective practice.

Relational Safeguarding: Prioritise safety through relationship-centred approaches.

​​Course structure and assessment
The teaching methods include lectures, seminars and group discussions, individual tutorials, trainee presentations, individual and group supervised practice, and reflective/ experiential groups. Over three terms you will study;

Theoretical Concepts (Term 1): Build a strong foundation in key psychological theories.

Current Presentations (Term 2): Examine contemporary mental health challenges.

Interventions (Term 3): Develop effective, relationship-focused strategies for practice.

The course will be assessed through essays, case studies and group presentations.

​Course Tutors
​
This course is delivered and assessed by experienced professionals and people with lived experience, including Iwona Munia, Head of Learning and Development, Dr Andreas Constandinos, Head of Psychotherapy, Jalil Kane, Chief Operating Officer and Anthony Jones, Head of Social Work. ​

​​Requirements
​
No formal academic requirements are needed to enrol on this course, but you must be working in a role supporting or working with vulnerable adults. For example, you may be working in homelessness services, the NHS or a not-for-profit organisation offering community support.

We are delighted to offer this course at an introductory cost of £1,600 for the 2025-2026 academic year. ​Group discounts are available for organisations wishing to enrol more than one staff member. Please get in touch with us for further information.
