Our residents
We support people experiencing acute and prolonged mental distress, conditions such as personality disorder, psychosis, PTSD, depression, schizophrenia, and those who have histories of childhood trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and substance use.
Referred to us by local authorities and health professionals, many of our residents have experienced prolonged/multiple hospitalisations, placement breakdowns, and challenges with independent living.

“I’ve been in five other supported living services before coming to CHT. There wasn’t the emphasis on community that there is here.  I think a lot of mental health problems are caused by desperately wanting a connection and not knowing how to do that. And then you fall into negative behaviours. [At CHT], the feeling of community is really strong, and I think it's really important for mental health recovery. Loneliness and trying to go through recovery on your own is a lot harder”

*Adverse Childhood Experiences score. Research has found strong associations between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), for example, neglect, abuse, and household dysfunction (i.e. substance abuse, domestic violence), and poor health and social outcomes throughout life. The ACE score is a measurement of childhood trauma. People with a score of 4 or more are at higher risk of mental health disorders, risky behaviours and physical health conditions.
