Our residents

We believe that our residents are more than their diagnosis. But we also recognise that for supporters, referrers and future residents, having an understanding of who we support can be helpful.

With this in mind, this page provides an overview of our residents over the past twelve months.

We can offer support to:

  • People experiencing complex, overlapping mental health diagnoses, and co-occurring conditions, broadly outlined in the diagram.

  • People with histories of trauma, self-harm and substance use.

  • People leaving hospital, or those who otherwise might be in hospital

“I’ve been in five other supported living services before coming to CHT. There wasn’t the emphasis on community that there is here.  I think a lot of mental health problems are caused by desperately wanting a connection and not knowing how to do that. And then you fall into negative behaviours. Here, the feeling of community is really strong, and I think it's really important for mental health recovery. Loneliness and trying to go through recovery on your own is a lot harder”

*Adverse Childhood Experiences score. Research has found strong associations between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), for example, neglect, abuse, and household dysfunction (i.e. substance abuse, domestic violence), and poor health and social outcomes throughout life. The ACE score is a measurement of childhood trauma. People with a score of 4 or more are at higher risk of mental health disorders, risky behaviours and physical health conditions.
